Gday Folks,

Well it’s been an up and down off season out here as usual in the Mentawai Islands. We did our annual docking and hull inspection in early January and the old girl got a fresh lick of paint and a new set of props. The new props have proved to be a winner with the boat gaining an extra knot which was an unexpected bonus. We had a very wet November and December but the sun did shine for us in January and February. There was plenty of uncrowded waves to be had and the few boats that were operating scored some nice, user friendly, uncrowded gems.

Now is the time to think about booking your off season trip for next year. Most crew head to the Pacific for those big northern hemisphere winter swells so if you’re not keen to deal with the blustery Pacific conditions or big swells think about a trip to the Mentawais aboard Huey.

Huey’s having a bit of a break now as our ever loyal and faithful crew are in Jakarta validating their qualifications to keep the boat up to speed with the ever-changing regulations.

We have a big year coming up with our regular West Aussie guests and a few new ones booked in from Nambucca, Wollongong, Adelaide and Hawaii to name a few.

One trip in August will see the winners of the Margaret River Classic and the winner for the Lagoon Aware Pro on the East Coast of the US join Huey for a trip of a lifetime.

We have had a few spots open up for trips in April and July. Also, we have a full boat available in June so jump on the website to check all available dates.

The 2018 & 2019 schedules are live on the freshly updated Huey website.

Hope to see you onboard.

That’s all for now folks.

Hope you’re all getting barrelled and not working too hard.

Sooly and everyone at Team Huey.
