Accomodation
Huey is an outstanding sea boat, perfect for surf chartrers and fully equipped for accessing the islands of West Sumatra.
The boat
Huey was converted from a Japanese Patrol Boat for Surf Charters in the year 2000 and purchased by Sooly in 2005. With multiple chill areas and a split level layout your comfort is guaranteed.
With 20 seasons under the current management Huey has never missed a days surfing due to mechanical failure which makes it one of, if not, the most reliable charter boat in the fleet.
The rooms
After a long days surf, what you need is a good night sleep. Our 8 bed dorm, TV room and twin cabin room will ensure you’ll get all the sleep you need. Our mattresses are top quality and the AC will have you nodding off in no time. The boats low centre of gravity also makes it one of the most stable in the fleet.
The food
Working on Huey since the year 2000, Khairul, our famous chef is on standby to fulfill your gastronomic needs after long sessions in the surf. From Indonesian cuisine to big Ausssie breakfasts and everything in between, he will knock out the best food you’ll find in West Sumatra. From sashimi to a curry or good old fish and chips, having your catch of the day prepared the way you want is one of K’Rocks specialties.

Location
Our mission is to get you the best waves no matter the conditions.
Whether it’s the Mentawais, Telos or even the Banyaks Islands, Huey can do it all. Departing from Padang, we set sail in the early afternoon or just after dark and get you across the straight for a dawn surf on Day 1. Surf the best waves this archipelago can throw up and let yourself enjoy the amazing landscapes the region has to offer.
Flexibility

Huey can accommodate 10 people maximum (more by request for excusive charters).
Charters usually go for 10, 11 or 12 days but can be extended to suit.
Pulau Banyak trips depart from Padang and finish in Sibolga or depart from Sibolga and finish in Padang. There is no extra fuel cost for these trips.
Whether you want a standard Mentawai trip or something out of the box we can fully customise your options for a unique experience.
Our off season trips to Aceh will be launched soon if enough interest is shown. This rarely chartered coast has a myriad of reefs for surfing, fishing and the scenery is out of this world. Perfect wind conditions from November to March and great for small – medium wave surfers who don’t mind mixing it up for their holidays.

Max is an absolute champion. He put us on all the best waves and his forecasting was spot on. He also worked around getting us rights and lefts and mixing up the locations. He also got us uncrowded waves which was epic.
Can’t say enough positive things about his approach, his contribution and his ability to manage 3 very different groups and a group of 1. He made the trip epic.
As for cookie, the food was 100 percent every meal and the rest of the crew nailed it too.

Landed back in Yals last night after an epic trip the last 2 weeks, it had it all.
So good to see all the crew again, love those fellas they were all smiles and fantastic as always.
Mostly just wanted to give Max a big plug mate he’s a ripper. He couldn’t have done more to make sure we all enjoyed ourselves.
First trip I’ve done where we got some real indo swell and combined with a great crew and the usual Huey experience it was one of the best.

Just thought I’d send a quick message as I just got home from a trip on board the legendary Huey with my mates.
Just wanted to let you know how great the crew were as usual. Absolutely brilliant mate, such a bunch of legends!!
Big part of any trip is the surf guide. Max is a fkn legend! He froths on guys pushing themselves and getting epic waves, really encouraging, straight up but gave us options, really respectful with the crew and froths on checking out new places like rivers, islands, bonfires etc which really completes the whole experience.
Just wanted to let you know that the boat is in great hands with these guys. Can’t wait to jump on board again.

The trip was exceptional. I’ve done a bunch of trips on different boats, but I’d never been early season and never on Huey. I’ll do both again…without doubt.
The boat is stellar. Safe, fast, comfortable, well appointed and reliable.
The crew was exceptional. In particular, I’d like to pass on my thanks to Khairul the cook. His standards and approachability were mind blowing.
Max found us isolated waves of good quality. He had us in the water just after first light and we hardly shared waves with any other boats or camps.
Congratulations on a tight operation. You must be and should be very proud.
